Watch A Starfish Force Out A Micro Chip Embedded
In Its Body For Research
We
all like Starfish and we like to scoop them
up whenever we see one at the beach. Starfish have built in armor, and the
ability to re-grow limbs. Two biology
students have learned that starfish do not
like to be test subjects.
Two
students had the task of embedding a small
micro chip into the starfish much like other
marine life are tagged such as whales,
seals, and other sea life.
Days later, the students discovered that the starfish were
pushing the tags out, without hitting any organs or harming the echinoderm, were being forced out of their arms.
Researchers aren't exactly sure how the starfish are
able to do this. Their findings are described in a paper published in The
Biological
Bulletin.
