Researchers from Temple University School of Medicine have developed a method to target and
cut HIV-1 DNA from infected cells, successfully
eliminating the virus in the lab, and also immunized uninfected cells against infection. The researchers believe
this might be a step in the right direction
to permanently cure HIV and could even be an effective
control other viral infections.
Around 75 million people have been infected with HIV and around 36 million have died as a result of
infection since the stat of the HIV/aids
pandemic.
